Having observed the evolution of various Local Plans, I am fully supportive of the blueprint provided by the NPPF. Its focus on ensuring that plans are positively prepared encourages councils to be proactive rather than reactive, addressing potential challenges before they arise. The emphasis on justification also suggests a reliance on data and evidence, thus allowing residents to feel more at ease with developments slated for their neighbourhoods. Finally, reinforcing these plans by aligning with national policies fosters cooperation between local and national interests, ensuring that local development contributes to broader objectives. This framework, in my view, is the right approach for future planning.
